Where was traffic jammed the longest?

Per street, the section that was jammed the longest. Added up since 6 November.

When will the roadworks be done?

The big projects, according to the schedule.

  • Prinsengracht in3 weeks until 26 November 2026
Oranje Loper - Plan 2. Weg dicht in beide richtingen
  • N247 in4 weeks until 7 December 2026
N247 Bereikbaar Waterland aanpassing hoofdrijbaan. Weg dicht in beide richtingen
  • Major maintenance A10 South, A5 and Gooiseweg in14 months starts 1 January, done December 2027
Major maintenance is planned for the A10 South, the A5 and the Gooiseweg in 2027, in the same period as the IJtunnel closure. That can make the ring road and main routes very busy at times. The exact weekends and nights have not been set yet.
  • IJtunnel: major maintenance inalmost two years starts 1 July, done November 2028
The IJtunnel, the main link between Centre and North, will close for at least a year from mid-2027 for major maintenance: new asphalt, ventilation, lighting and safety systems. The city expects a big impact on accessibility, especially for North. The schedule is provisional (1 July 2027 to 1 November 2028); exact dates will follow.
  • Amstel junction reconstruction inthree years starts 1 January, done December 2029
The junction at Amstel station (Julianaplein, Amstelkwartier) will be rebuilt; the start is planned for 2027. Traffic to and from East and Southeast will notice it first.
  • Zuidasdok: A10 South and Zuidas in11 years until 31 December 2037
The A10 South is being widened and partly put in a tunnel, and Zuid station is being expanded. In 2026 that means more than ten weekends with the A10 South and its links to the A4 and A10 West closed, and sometimes the Amstelveenseweg too. The first big milestone, the Brittenpassage at Zuid station, follows by 2027 at the latest. Construction of the A10 tunnel starts in 2027. The whole project will be finished by 2037 at the latest. A road is busy if it takes you at least 30% longer than normal. It is jammed if it takes at least 80% longer. Normal is the travel time when traffic flows freely. A whole route counts as slower from 1 extra minute, and red from 4 extra minutes.
